OWH Sketch 102 -- and a Thank You in Honor of Dixie's Service

Happy New Year!

And to ring in the new year, Operation Write Home gave us a brand new sketch, which inspired the card below.

The trunk was cut out of a sheet in the DCWV Travel Stack. The top and bottom of the trunk were cut out separately and placed on the paper with pop up dots. (Wish I would've thought to replace the bronze colored circles with metallic brads before I adhered the top and bottom pieces.) The text is computer-generated (Arial Black) -- and the sentiment was inspired by a fondly remembered trip to Spain and a longing to visit Paris.
In addition, OWH asked us to make a thank you card for one of our deployed troops in honor of Dixie's years of service to OWH. So, my card is horizontal because I had a pre-written Any Hero note in a horizontal layout just waiting to be finished.

In case you're like me and often wonder what to say in Any Hero mail, my card's message is:
Dear Hero,

Just a quick note to thank you for all that you do. Your courage and bravery mean so much to those of us at home. Your family and friends must be very proud.

Please know you are in the thoughts and prayers of many Americans.

Godpeed,

Sybrina K
Hope to find time in the next couple of days to make a feminine trunk card version for one of our female heroes. But, tomorrow it's back to work I go. :)

All the best in 2012!

Great any hero card Sybrina! I love how you managed to take those travel themed papers and turn them into this very clever and creative card. Very nice of you to also help folks who have a hard time knowing what to right by sharing your note here. Happy New Year!

What a great idea to use sentiments for your three sketch strips! I will have to try that idea. Beautiful hero card. Thanks for sharing your message, too.

Great card, Sybrina! I like how the sentiment looks like a note tucked into the trunk. Great idea for an AnyHero card! Thanks for joining us in this week's OWH Stars & Stamps Sketch Challenge!
